About This Journey

Join Jen Cline and Caramia Tambornino in the Sacred Valley of Peru! We'll enjoy organic meals, beautiful accommodations, excellent yoga instruction, guided trips to ancient Incan wonders, and the magic of Machu Picchu at sunrise! We begin our journey with 5 nights at a vibrant retreat center surrounded by mountains and lush gardens, fed by a beautiful nearby waterfall. We'll have the chance to acclimate to the altitude, enjoying nourishing meals, optional spa treatments on-site, and daily yoga classes with Caramia. Beginning on Day 3, we'll head out on daily excursions with a local guide named Valentin. Hiking through ancient Incan cities, volunteering at a local school, visiting local markets, and a day on Valentin's family farm for a traditional Peruvian meal, are just a few of the highlights!  Our journey culminates with a beautiful train ride to Aguas Calientes, and a visit to Machu Picchu at sunrise!

More Information

About Caramia

Caramia began practicing yoga in 1979 in Minnesota, at Shanti House. This physically challenging and transformative experience saved her life and lit her path to pure joy.

Throughout her adult life, she felt compelled to connect and give back; she served as a wellness advocate and found herself in the Bay Area as Director of Marketing for Brown & Toland Medical Group, a prestigious San Francisco Medical Services organization. Due to a busy social and career life, along with parenting two children, her yoga practice (along with other things) slipped to the side.

In 2008, with an urgent need to heal and transform, coupled with a burning desire to help those in need of REAL health care, she made a courageous decision to return home.....to her mat, and enrolled in YogaWorks teaching training program. Guiding her students to physical and inner strength, Caramia began sharing and teaching the transformative power of yoga immediately upon completing her initial training and went on to complete the YogaWorks 500 hour advanced studies program.

Today she teaches full time at multiple studios in the Bay Area.  She is a wealth of knowledge and offers patient and gentle guidance to students at all levels of yoga.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I pay my deposit? NOW! Space is limited, so we recommend that you pay your deposit SOON to secure your space on this trip! There are multiple reservations that require significant advanced booking and financial commitments. These are made on your behalf as soon as you place your deposit. These types of reservations include but are not limited to: multiple hotel bookings, train tickets, and entry permits to Huyana Picchu (extremely limited & government regulated). We will do everything we can to confirm all necessary reservations and permits however, we can not guarantee these arrangements without advanced booking.

Are meals included? Three meals per day are included April 17-21 (the first 5 days). Breakfast is included April 22-25. Lunch and dinner will be on your own April 22nd, 23rd, and 24th. Restaurants are MUCH less expensive in Peru than in the U.S. The nicest restaurants in Cusco (upscale) run around $20 per meal at the most... but often you can find an amazing meal for around $8-$15 per person.

Do I need Travel Insurance? YES!! As all payments to us are non-refundable, the purchase of travel insurance is REQUIRED to ensure you are covered should any unexpected event arise. Policies are inexpensive and easy to purchase online. We'll email you upon registration with some sites to look over. Once you purchase your policy you'll email us a copy for our records. We are requiring this as a protective measure for you, as you will be assuming 100% of any costs incurred for trip cancellation or trip interruption. Please check to understand the fine print of the policy you select so that you know exactly what is and isn’t covered — especially if you think you may need to cancel for COVID-19 / pandemic-related reasons. Most carriers will only cover this under a "Cancel for Any Reason" tier of coverage. IMPORTANT: in order to guarantee maximum coverage, most travel insurance providers require that you obtain a policy within 5-10 days of placing your initial deposit. Once you register for the trip Jen can assist with easy online travel insurance links.

What airport do I fly into? Flying from the US: You will book your international ticket in and out of Cusco International Airport (Code: CUZ) Traveling to Peru requires a connection in Lima (airport code: LIM). The flight from Lima to Cusco is 1 hour. Depending on the airline, this may require that you book tickets separately. We are recommending that you consider booking a flight into Cusco with LATAM or TACA that arrives prior to 11 a.m. Earlier flights are subject to fewer weather-related delays than flights arriving later in the day. Depending on your flight schedule, you may need to stay overnight in Lima before catching your connection to Cusco. If this is the case, there is a hotel (Wyndham) attached to the Lima airport where you can rest on your stopover. Please wait to book flights until instructed to do so. We will provide more information on booking flights upon registration.

Do I need a visa for travel to Peru? American citizen visitors to Peru do not need a visa if they are traveling as a tourist with a valid U.S. passport. You will be issued a tourist card upon entry, which is valid for up to 90 days.

Will there be group airfares or is everyone traveling together? We will not be offering group airfares, as we will have people joining us from all over the US, with some arriving early, some arriving late, some using miles, etc. Most often, LATAM (Latin American Airlines) will have the best options if flying from the west coast or connecting through LAX. We recommend using "Google Flights" to easily compare flight options and Jen is happy to review any flight itinerary you might be considering.

What if I am traveling alone? Yay! You are going to love Peru! If you prefer a single room, awesome! If you prefer a double we will do our best to match you with another participant of the same gender. If we are unable to match you before the final payment deadline, you will be charged 50% of the single rate as a supplement.

How many people are expected on this trip? While attendance varies, we have booked the entire retreat center and will be able to offer between 14 and 28 spots depending on how many people choose a single or a double accommodation. We will know more as the trip approaches.

Are airport transfers included in the price of my trip? Yes, airport transfers are included. Note: if you arrive earlier than April 17th you will be responsible for coordinating and paying for your own transportation.

What is the payment & cancellation policy? A $625 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your spot on the trip. This amount is applied to your trip purchase total. The remaining balance can be paid in full, or can be paid out over 2 payments November 1, 2022 & January 15, 2023. Final and full payment is due January 15, 2023. If you cancel prior to the final balance deadline we will refund 50% of any payments made, minus the non-refundable deposit. We will send you an invoice to complete your payment in advance of the final balance deadline. If you do not complete the payment on your own by that date, the card on file will be automatically charged your remaining balance. If you register for the trip after January 15, 2023, the full amount is due at sign up. All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable after January 15, 2023. Because this is a personally planned trip, we must strictly adhere to our cancellation policy to offset costs incurred prior to the commencement of retreat. Because we are required to make payments to our facilities and tour guides far in advance of the trip in order to secure bookings, refunds of any kind are not available after January 15th. We ARE REQUIRING that you purchase travel insurance to cover any unexpected cancellation.

Do I need to be vaccinated for Covid-19 to come on this trip? Yes. While a vaccine is not required to enter Peru, entrance to Machu Picchu and multiple other sites on our itinerary require that tourists are double vaccinated and preferably boosted. They may ask you to produce and show proof of vaccination at any time. You'll also fill out a health affidavit the day before you travel stating that you are healthy in order to enter Peru. This is a simple one page form that you'll obtain online and fill out to bring with you.
